2010 America The Beautiful Coins from JM Bullion

In 2010, the United States Mint unveiled a brand-new coin series that honors the nation’s monuments, national forest, and national parks. Each year, the Mint releases a set of new coins to honor different states or territories across the country. JM Bullion is proud to offer all five coins from the 2010 ATB Silver Coin series.

Introduction to America the Beautiful Coins

Known as the ATB series, America the Beautiful is a 56-coin series that was introduced by the United States Mint in 2010. The Mint strikes five new coin designs on an annual basis through 2020, with just one coin design scheduled for release in the final year of production, 2021. The program was authorized by US Congress with passage of the America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008.

In total, the coin program will consist of one coin representing each of the 50 states in the US, the five overseas territories of the nation, and the federal district. The order of release for the coins was determined by the age of the national park, forest, or monument depicted on the coin’s reverse side. Coins are minted in bullion and proof versions each year, with the Denver Mint and Philadelphia Mint contributing to production of these coins.

    2010 ATB Silver Coins

As mentioned above, the ATB coin series starts with the oldest of the nation’s national parks and public landmarks. The five states represented in the 2010 ATB Silver coin series include Arkansas, Wyoming, California, Arizona, and Oregon. The designs featured on each coin breakdown as follows:

    • Arkansas: The very first coin in the ATB Series, the Arkansas quarter honors the Hot Springs National Park. The park was established on April 20, 1832. Total mintage for this coin was 33,000.
    • Wyoming: As you might expect, Yellowstone National Park was chosen to represent Wyoming on the ATB quarter series. Established on March 1, 1872, the park is one of the nation’s most popular tourist destinations. Only 33,000 coins were minted with this design.
    • California: Yosemite National Park represents California on the ATB Silver series. The park is another of the nation’s top tourist destinations, and was established on October 1, 1890. A total of 33,000 Yosemite coins were produced.
    • Arizona: One of the three coin’s to feature a reused image from the circulation State Quarters series, Arizona is represented by the Grand Canyon. Stretching 18 miles across at its widest, and plunging one mile at its deepest, the park was established on February 20, 1893. Only 33,000 coins were minted with this design.
    • Oregon: The final coin of the 2010 ATB Silver Coin series, Oregon is represented by Mt. Hood National Forest. The forest in Oregon was established as a US Forest Service protection area on September 26, 1893. Total mintage for the Mt. Hood National Forest coin was only 33,000.

Availability of 2010 ATB Silver Coins

JM Bullion is proud to offer each of the five 2010 ATB Silver coins for sale on our website today. Each of the coins available through JM Bullion is available in either Brilliant Uncirculated condition, or features a certification grade from one of the world’s two major grading services, the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and the Professional Coin Grading Service.

A breakdown of the grades available from the NGC and PCGS looks as follows:

    • Mint State 70: These are considered perfect bullion coins, with full, original luster and no detracting flaws of any kind.
    • Mint State 69: These coins have their full, original luster, but may include no more than two minor detracting flaws. Although flaws exist, the marks on this coin are found outside the primary focal areas of the coin.

Many of the 2010 ATB Silver Coins available through JM Bullion feature DM or DMPL certifications from the NGC and PCGS. Although these are bullion coins, these grades indicate that a coin may have a deeply-mirrored finish, or even a deeply-mirrored, proof-like finish. In either case, the coin has a stark contrast between its design set and its background field.
