In 1986, the debut of the American Gold Eagle revived America’s gold coin production after a 53-year hiatus, even though these coins are not intended for circulation like its predecessors.
The gold content of American Gold Eagles is 91.67% gold with 5.33% copper and 3% silver. Previously, American gold coins had 90% gold from 1837 to 1933. Prior to 1837, US gold coin content was briefly 89.92% gold from 1834 to 1837, but had been 91.67% gold from 1794 to 1834.
In the obverse design of the 2024 1 oz Gold Eagle Coin, you will find the full-length effigy of Liberty in front-facing relief. The design shown here was first used on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933 and shows Liberty walking toward the viewer with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
For the reverse side of the 2024 American Gold Eagle, the US Mint depicts the American bald eagle. Designed in 2020 by Jennie Norris, this new design debuted in mid-2021 with the head of the eagle shown in left-profile relief.
These 2024 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available to purchase in perfect condition. Mint State 70 coins showcase full, original mint luster with no detractions. These coins are First Day of Issue specimens that were received for grading within 24 hours of release from the mint.
