The American Gold Eagle is popular with both investors and collectors. Offering BU, Proof, and Burnished versions each year, the series has something for every gold enthusiast. One of the most popular choices with those who value condition and design quality is the certified version of the coin. Today, 2024 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available in certified condition online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Gold Eagles come in 1 oz gold and three fractional-ounce options. This has been true of the BU Gold Eagle since 1986. The US Mint did not offer all four weights in the Proof Gold Eagle until 1988. The Burnished Gold Eagle debuted with all four in 2006, but following its 2009-2010 hiatus, it returned in 2011 with only 1 oz gold available to buyers.
All of these 2024 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins come in PCGS plastic slabs with a near-perfect grade. Mint State 69 coins have full, original mint luster and will feature a maximum of two minor detractions. Those detractions are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside the primary focal points. First Strike coins are those received by the PCGS for grading within 30 days of release by the mint.
On the obverse of the 2024 American Gold Eagle is a depiction of Lady Liberty. Created in 1907, this design shows the full-length figure of Liberty walking toward the viewer with a torch in one hand, an olive branch in the other, sun rays at her back, and a ring of stars around the field.
The reverse side of 2024 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coins comes with the image of an American bald eagle. This redesigned visual was created in 2020 by Jennie Norris and made its debut on the reverse of Gold Eagles in mid-2021. The image shows the head of the eagle in left-profile relief.
