The 1/10 oz Gold Eagle has long been a popular option in the American Gold Eagle Series. While the 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz gold coins have never topped the sales charts in this series, the 1/10 oz gold coin dominated the collection through the mid-2000s. Today, it remains in high demand even as the 1 oz gold often tops the sales figures each year.
With the release of 2021 American Gold Eagle Type 2s, the US Mint delivers its long-awaited new reverse design. The change in the reverse was announced in October 2019 and a contest between several possible designs was held throughout 2020 as coinage committees considered the possible designs. Jennie Norris’ bald eagle design beat out more than 30 other possible designs.
Lady Liberty is found on the obverse of 2021 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this effigy of Liberty offers a front-facing view of LIberty as she walks toward the viewer. At Liberty’s back are the U.S. Capitol Building and rays of sunshine. There is a ring of 50 stars around the design element with Liberty carrying an olive branch of peace and a torch.
A new American bald eagle design is featured on the reverse side of the 2021 American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins. Type 2 refers to the new design from Jennie Norris that captures the American bald eagle in incredible detail.
These 2021 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins are available in either plastic flips or plastic tubes of 50 coins. Each coin is available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
