In 1995 the United States Mint celebrated the 10th anniversary of the American Eagle coin program. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the US Mint released a celebratory 5-coin set that featured 30,102 of each of the Proof American Gold Eagle coins, including the 1/2 oz. coin, as well as a special striking of the 1/2 oz Proof American Silver Eagle.
Each 1995-W 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coin in this product listing has a grade of PR70 from the PCGS. Coins of this type are considered perfect specimens, and feature their full, original mint luster. There are also no detracting flaws of any kind on the surface of these coins.

On the obverse is Lady Libertys stirring image from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. He was hand-picked by President Theodore Roosevelt to lead the charge in redesigning American gold coin imagery.
The reverse features a family of nesting bald eagles. In the design, a male returns to the nest with an olive branch, where a female is standing guard over the nest and its hatchlings. This image was created in 1986 for the American Gold Eagle by Miley Busiek.
