In 1893, the United States Mint issued its Liberty Gold Half Eagles at a total of four different branch mints across the country. From north to south and east to west, mints across the US struck the Liberty Head design for this $5 gold coin. Among them, the New Orleans Mint issued one of the smallest figures. Fairmont Collection coins represent a unique hoard of 19th and early-20th-century American gold coins. These coins wound up overseas through international commerce and remained in foreign bank vaults until the 2010s. In the late 2010s, these coins were repatriated to the United States.
