The American Silver Eagle coin is the nation’s official silver bullion product, and regularly ranks as the most popular coin in the world by total sales volume. While the bullion specimen is well known to investors around the globe, the proof and burnished collector coins have lower mintages and appeal to numismatists. Right now, the 2017-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coin is available to purchase online from JM Bullion with NGC certification.

The 2017-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle coins in this product listing are near-perfect specimens according to the NGC. A coin with an MS69 grade exhibits full, original mint luster, but also a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These flaws consist of minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
Coins with an Early Release, or ER, label were received for certification by the NGC within a set timeframe. In this case, these 2017 Burnished Silver Eagles were received within 30 days of their initial release from the US Mint.
Burnished Silver Eagles were introduced in 2006 by the United States Mint on the 20th anniversary of the Silver Eagle program. Burnished coins are specially produced with care by the United States Mint to create a unique finish that gives this version of the American Silver Eagle a different visual beauty than even its competing collectible product, the proof coin.
On the obverse of the 2017-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle you’ll find the design of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, it appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin from 1916 until 1947 and is considered one of America’s greatest circulation coin designs of all time.
The reverse of all Burnished Silver Eagle coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. First used in 1794 by the US Mint, this version is a modern interpretation that was completed by John Mercanti in 1986 for use on the American Silver Eagle. Mercanti was a US Mint engraver and served as Chief Engraver until his retirement in 2010.
American Silver Eagle coins from the burnished collection all feature a “W” mint mark on the reverse, indicative of their production at the West Point Mint facility in the state of New York.
