The reverse of the 2017 Somalia Silver Elephant coin features the coat of arms for Somalia. The nation’s official seal has a pair of leopards, one on each side, holding up the heraldic shield. On the shield is a single star, similar to the national flag, set against a backdrop of horizontal lines.
On the obverse of all 2017 10 oz Somalia Silver Elephant Coins is the new elephant design for 2017. The world’s largest land mammal is depicted standing on the open Savannah, with a small patch of grass in the immediate foreground and a hut with palm tree for shade in the background.
Somalia Silver Elephants debuted as .999 pure silver coins with 1 oz and 1 Kilo weights back in 2004. Today the coins are available with .9999 purity (as of 2016), and feature six new weights for 2017. This includes the first-ever fractional weights, three in total; a 2 oz coin, a 5 oz coin, and these new 2017 10 oz Somalia Silver Elephants.
The Bavarian State Mint produces the Somalia Silver Elephant on an annual basis in gold, silver, and platinum. Located in Munich, the Bavarian State Mint is one of Germany’s four major mints and is state-owned by the Free State of Bavaria.

“JMB, super fast shipping (was supposed to get it on Monday, got it on Saturday), low price, great care in packaging.
This coin is amazing. It has inspired awe in person. Its so heavy and chunky you’ll feel like you’re holding treasure. That’s because it is indeed treasure my friends. It isn’t grade worthy or anything but it does look great.
Warning, total non-issue for me but maybe others (knowledge is power and all that): The capsule doesn’t close completely and doesn’t fit the thickness of the coin; the coin is thicker. It does fit the diameter exactly, however. So it’s snug and not moving on any axis. I can fit a nickel in the gap but not a silver dollar. This is totally not a big deal. Its going in a safe and as a gift for my daughter when she is more than a couple years old.
If you are considering this you should totally jump on it because its the first year they’ve made them in this size. You know the premium is only going up on African Wildlife coins and this one especially will w/o a doubt. Whether for yourself or a gift it is sure to make an impression. I’ll show my brothers and they’ll all want some of this too.”
