Monarch Precious Metals was one of the first mints to open its doors in response to the recent spike in demand for gold and silver precious metal products. Contrary to many of its competitors, MPM uses traditional production methods that including hand pouring all metals into casts and using stamp engraving to give all of its products an authentic, rustic appearance.
The new 5 oz Monarch Skull and Crossbones Silver Bar takes on the shape of the famous skull & crossbones from the Jolly Roger pirate flag. Each bar is poured into a cast in the exact shape, and the obverse side of the bar features sharp outlines and sunken spaces for the eyes and nose of the skull.
On the obverse of each bar is a rough, matte finish that bears no engravings. The only visible features on this side are the outlines of the skeletal structure, including a set of teeth along the upper jaw.
The reverse side of the bar features a similar rough finish, and bears the only engravings on either side of the bar. In order, the engravings include the weight of the bar, an individual serial number, the purity of the bar, and its metal content.
Monarch Precious Metals was founded in 2008 in the Rogue Valley of southern Oregon. All of its products are made using the same hand-poured techniques traditionally used in precious metal refining. All of its gold and silver bars and rounds are produced to minimal fineness levels of .999.
