The obverse side of the 2024-W $5 American Greatest Generation Coin features the Wall of Stars. The Wall of Stars is located at the World War II Memorial. The Washington D.C. memorial features 4,048 gold stars, representing the Americans who gave their lives in the war. Each star represents around 100 service members.

The reverse field of the 2024-W $5 Gold Greatest Generation Coin features a folded American flag. A folded American flag is common to be presented at the funeral of a fallen soldier or service member. Identifying marks of the coin frame the design.
