Over the last several years, the Proof Silver Eagle has proven popular with collectors as the series marked its 35^th anniversary and introduced a new reverse design element, a first in the history of the collection.

The 2021 release was the 35^th anniversary and featured two issues of Proof Silver Eagles by the West Point Mint and one by the San Francisco Mint. West Point issued coins with the old and new reverse designs, while San Francisco issued only coins with the new reverse.
