For this commemorative coin program, 3 unique coins were issued focusing on World War II and the over 400,000 Americans who lost their lives during this time. This is the second commemorative coin program that has been issued by the US Mint in 2024, along with the Harriet Tubman Bicentennial.
Each 2024-P Proof American Greatest Generation Silver Dollar Coin will arrive inside a display box from the US Mint. These coins will also arrive with a Certificate of Authenticity. These coins are proof strikes and will have a “P” mint mark indicating their production at the Philadelphia Mint.
The obverse side of the 2024-P Proof American Greatest Generation Dollar Coin features a unique image of the Earth being held up by five branches of the US military. The Earth is seen near the top of the coin and is being supported by a member of the Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, Army, and Marine Corps. Also pictured is the Merchant Marine from World War II. The image is surrounded by identifying marks of the coin.
The reverse side of the 2024-P Proof Greatest Generation Silver Dollar Coin shows a unique depiction from a Victory Pavilion in the World War II Memorial. The Earth is seen in the middle of the design field. Four eagles are seen holding a laurel wreath around the Earth.
