Mothers and cubs have a close bond in the Giant Panda family unit. Giant panda cubs are typically weaned at around 6 to 8 months of age. This process involves a gradual shift from milk to a bamboo-based diet. Mother pandas introduce their cubs to bamboo and help them learn to eat it. Cubs may continue to nurse occasionally even after they begin consuming bamboo.
