The Royal Canadian Mint starts its 2024 bullion lineup with the debut of a new, first-ever bust of King Charles III. His Majesty’s portrait was carefully considered by the Royal Canadian Mint, with a Canadian artist once again completing a monarch portrait for national currency and bullion coins.
On the obverse of 2024 Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf Coins, you will find the new portrait of Charles III. His Majesty is shown here in opposing relief to his predecessor, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The king is shown in left-profile without a crown on his head.
The reverse side of 2024 1 oz Platinum Maple Leaf Coins comes with the iconic sugar maple leaf design. Created for the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979, this vision of the national emblem has been in use on the bullion coins in this collection for more than 40 years. It graces the coins in the gold, silver, and palladium series as well.
