The 2023 release of Silver Britannias included early releases in the production schedule that featured Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The remainder of the year featured the new bust of King Charles III on the obverse. The 2024 release is the first in the program’s history to only feature the bust of Charles III.
King Charles III is on the obverse of each 2024 British Silver Britannia. His Majesty is shown in left-profile relief in a design from Martin Jennings. This first-ever bust of Charles III shows the monarch without a crown.
Britannia is depicted on the reverse of 2024 1 oz Silver Britannias. Her portrait was created for this series in 1987 by Philip Nathan and captures a powerful glimpse of Britannia with a Corinthian helmet, trident, and shield. The tincture lines on the shield, micro text around Britannia, the wave-motion lines in the background, and the latent security element are all found on this side of the coin.
