One of the most popular coin designs in American history is known as Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916, the image lives on to this day on the Silver Eagle bullion coin from the US Mint. This design is honored in the World’s Purest Bullion Series of .99999 pure gold coins. Now, 2024 1/100 oz Proof Solomon Islands Gold World’s Purest Bullion Liberty Coins are available for purchase online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
In 1916, Adolph A. Weinman created the original Liberty design that became known as Walking Liberty. The image of Liberty is a left-profile relief with Liberty draped in the American flag as her right hand is extended toward the sun on the horizon. The Walking Liberty design was used on the US Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947 and has featured on the Silver Eagle bullion coin since 1986.
Interestingly, Walking Liberty is said to have been inspired by another design that you’ll find recreated in the World’s Purest Bullion Series. The Sower, a French gold coin design from the 1890s that is also replicated in the World’s Purest Bullion Series, is said to have been Weinman’s original inspiration for the Walking Liberty image.
In the obverse design of 2024 1/100 oz Proof Gold World’s Purest Bullion Liberty Coins, you’ll find an effigy of King Charles III. His Majesty is shown here in left-profile relief without a crown on his head.
For the reverse of 2024 Proof Solomon Islands World’s Purest Bullion Liberty Coins, the mint features a replication of the Walking Liberty design. This hand-drawn design shows Liberty in more of a front-facing relief with the American flag draped around her and the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand.
