Burnished American Silver Eagles were introduced in 2006 by the United States Mint. The third version of the coins, the Burnished Silver Eagle offers collectors a second option alongside the traditional Proof Silver Eagle. Burnished Eagles have been available from 2006 to 2008 and again on an annual basis as of 2011.
Walking Liberty is found on the obverse of 2023-W Burnished American Silver Eagles. This design shows Liberty’s full-length figure in left-profile relief with her right arm extended and her left carrying the branches of oak and laurel. As she strides toward the sun, the American flag is draped around her figure.
The soaring bald eagle designed by Emily Damstra graces the reverse side of the 2023-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coin. The design was introduced in mid-2021 and shows the eagle in left-profile relief. The eagle extends its wings with its talons clutching a large oak branch. This side includes the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
