The Peace Silver Dollar’s introduction marked the end of the Morgan Dollar series, which had been in production since 1878. The design transition was influenced by the desire for a new design and the need for commemorating the end of the war.
All of the 2023-S Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins available here come in perfect condition. PF70 coins have full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws. These proof specimens have frosted design elements and mirrored background fields.
On the obverse of 2023-S Proof Peace Dollars, the US Mint features Anthony di Francisci’s 1921 depiction of Lady Liberty. Designed to help commemorate peace after World War I, the image captures Liberty with free-flowing hair and a crown of radiant light on her head.
The reverse side of the 2023 Proof Peace Silver Dollar comes with an image of the American bald eagle. Also designed to capture the sense of peace in the aftermath of war, the image shows the American bald eagle at rest with an olive branch in its talons. The sun rises on the horizon as the eagle watches on.
