In 2021, the United States Mint brought back two of its most coveted silver dollar designs. In 2023, the US Mint offers these coins again, with a proof option among the coins available to collectors. Now, near-perfect 2023-S Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available to you for purchase online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The United States Mint initially offered the Peace Silver Dollar in late 1921 with the Philadelphia Mint issuing the coins for 1921. In 1922, the San Francisco Mint and the Denver Mint joined Philadelphia in striking the coins for circulation. The 1922 date in the series featured the highest combined mintage.
That year saw more than 84 million coins introduced. The next year, 1923, saw another year of high mintages, but the total fell well short of 1922 with around 55 million coins issued. Though millions of coins were issued from 1921 to 1928 during the program’s initial run, millions were melted down early in the Great Depression, and limited numbers of the coins were again struck in 1934 and 1935.
Obverse design elements on the 2023-S Proof Peace Dollar include the image of Lady Liberty. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, with his wife serving as the model for his vision of Liberty, this effigy shows Lady Liberty in left-profile relief with a radiant crown of light on her head.
Reverse visuals on these 2023 Proof Peace Silver Dollars include a depiction of a resting American bald eagle. The eagle is shown with its back to the viewers as it rests on a cliff ledge holding an olive branch in its talons.
These 2023-S Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins are in near-perfect condition. PF69 coins showcase full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detractions. These flaws must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin and are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
