The reverse of 2023 1 oz Gold Rwandan Coins contains two adult mountain gorillas sitting with their infant. An African continent motif common to all coins in this series is positioned just above the gorillas. Unique to this release is a special anniversary logo to mark 15 extraordinary years of the Rwandan Wildlife Series.
Because their DNA is closely linked to our own, humans must be careful not to spread illness and disease to the mountain gorilla. Since they have not developed the immunities that humans have, even a common cold can threaten a gorilla’s survival. In fact, pneumonia is listed as the most frequent cause of death for the beloved mountain gorilla.
