A key event of the Texas Revolution, the battle saw a mere 200 Texans take on the much larger army of Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Legendary Texans who fought in the battle include Davy Crockett, William Travis, and James Bowie. The Texans held their own for 13 days before the Mexican army broke through and claimed victory. While Texas lost this battle, its valiant efforts paved the way for its ultimate victory later that year.
