The obverse field of the 2023 1 oz Silver Silverback Gorilla Coin features the Congolese coat of arms. This emblem features a shield depicting a lion holding a torch. A crown sits atop the shield with an elephant flanking either side. Identifying marks of the coin surround this image.
A unique silverback gorilla image is present on the reverse of the 2023 Congo Silver Silverback Gorilla Coin. This year’s image features an adult gorilla holding its baby in its arms. Both gorillas are depicted in front-facing relief.
Every 2023 1 oz Congo Silver Silverback Gorilla Coin in this listing was struck at the Scottsdale Mint with the backing of the Congo. Coins will be shipped in individual plastic flips to preserve the condition of the coin. Also available are tubes of 20, or a Scottsdale Monster Box with 500 coins.
Despite appearing rather intimidating, especially as they can grow up to six feet tall, the silverback gorilla is known for being reserved and gentle. These gorillas are primarily herbivores eating a diet of mainly bamboo and plants.
