On December 6, 1912, German Egyptologist Ludwig Borchardt discovered the famous bust of Queen Nefertiti in Armana, Egypt. The artifact was uncovered in the workshop of Thutmose, a renowned artist who possibly was the court sculptor for King Akhenaten. Historians estimate the bust was crafted around the year 1345 BC. Today, it is viewed as one of history’s most sublime depictions of human beauty.

On the obverse of 2023 1 Gram Samoa Nefertiti Shaped Coins, you will find the Samoa coat of arms. In this design, there are concentric circles surrounding a shield decorated with five stars. These stars are meant to represent the Constellation of the Southern Cross. The obverse also features inscriptions of the year of release, denomination, weight, purity, and metal type.
The reverse side of this 2023 1 Gram Samoa Gold Shaped Coin depicts Queen Nefertiti. In this image, the Queen faces directly toward us while wearing what is referred to as the Nefertiti cap crown. This design directly replicates the bust of Nefertiti that currently resides in the Neues Museum in Germany.
