The United States Mint has introduced a new design on the reverse of its circulation quarter dollars in 2021. The new design celebrates one of the early pivotal moments in the American Revolution and shows General George Washington leading his troops across the Delaware River on Christmas Day. There have been only minor, temporary changes made to the US circulation quarter since 1932 when it was redesigned following the Standing Liberty Series. A portrait of President George Washington was added to the obverse that remains on the quarter to this day. For most of its history, the circulation version of the coin has featured an American bald eagle effigy on the reverse. In 2021, the US Mint marks the 245th anniversary of George Washington’s epic crossing of the Delaware River at the end of the first year of the American Revolution.
All of these 2021 George Washington Zenith Black Ruthenium Quarters are available to you with a plastic capsule and a Certificate of Authenticity. The coins also come with a small display that allows you to set the capsule upright. These particular circulation quarters come with two distinctive plating layers. The majority of the field comes with a 24-karat gold plating.
