Somalia Silver Elephant coins were originally introduced in 1999 as Zambian Silver Elephant coins, but the Bavarian State Mint shifted the nation of issue for the coins to Somalia in 2004. Today, these are among the most coveted coins in the world following a recent bump to .9999 pure silver and the ever-changing obverse designs.
On the reverse of all 2017 Somalia Silver Elephant coins you’ll find the image of the coat of arms for Somalia. This is accompanied by the nation of issue engravings, as well as the face value and year of issue for the coins.
The 2017 1 oz Somalia Silver Elephant Coin bears the latest design in the series. This image features a large bull elephant with its trunk raised as it stands on the open savanna, with a small hut and tall palm trees located in the background field.
