On the obverse face of the 2016 1 oz Somalia Silver Elephant Gilded coin is the image of a lone bull elephant as it stands along the banks of a winding river. As the river snakes off into the distance, you can see the sun rising high into the sky. The image of the elephant is the only feature on this side that bears the 24-karat gold gilding.
The reverse features the coat of arms for the nation of Somalia. The coat of arms includes a heraldic shield held by two leopards, with a singular star in the center over a backdrop of horizontal lines.
Located in the Free State of Bavaria, the Bavarian State Mint is one of the sovereign mints of the German nation. In addition to producing commemorative and bullion coins, it is one of the few mints authorized to print the common currency of the Eurozone, the Euro.
