The Chinese Gold Panda is one of the world’s longest running gold bullion programs. First introduced in 1982, only the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf has been struck on a continual basis for a longer period of time. As of 2016, the coins from the Chinese Mint have undergone a change in the weights and measurements used. The 2016 8 Gram Chinese Gold Panda Coin is now available from JM Bullion in perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2016 8 Gram Chinese Gold Panda coin in this JM Bullion in this listing has a grade of MS70 from the PCGS. Coins in this condition exhibit their full, original mint luster and bear no detracting flaws of any kind.
For 2016, the Chinese Mint moved away from the use of Troy ounces in weighing and marking its bullion coins. Both the Chinese Gold Panda and Silver Panda in 2016 feature weights in grams, which brings the program in line with the nation’s use of the metric system in all other areas of weights and measurements.
On the obverse of the 2016 8 Gram Chinese Gold Panda you’ll find the image of a panda as it climbs along a log that hangs out over a small body of water. One of the mainstays of the obverse design in recent years has been the use of a bamboo wall, which again features in the background.
The reverse face of each Chinese Gold Panda coin features the same image used on the coins since 1982, that of the Temple of Heaven in south-central Beijing. A place for social meetings and religious worship for more than 400 years now, the design features the outer façade of the building.
The Chinese Mint strikes all Chinese Gold Panda coins under the authority of the national government and the direction of the People’s Bank of China. No mint marks are ever used on Chinese Mint coins.
