With five television series and 13 feature films to its credit, the Star Trek universe has a bounty of memorable scenes stretching across the big and small screens over the course of its 50-year history. Now, the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates some of the most iconic from Star Trek: The Original Series with a three-coin Star Trek Scenes release. Today, the 2016 1 oz Canadian Silver Star Trek Mirror Mirror Coin is available from JM Bullion in Proof condition.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the coins in the Star Trek Scenes three-coin series features a different design from one of the most iconic episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series. In this second coin release, the 2016 1 oz Canadian Silver Star Trek Mirror Mirror coin relives a moment from the “Mirror, Mirror” episode.
Debuting on television on October 6, 1967, the episode sees the members of a landing party meeting with the Halkan Council transported back to a parallel universe rather than to the Enterprise.
Captain Kirk, Dr. McCoy, Chief Engineer Scott, and Lieutenant Uhura are transported back to the Enterprise during an Ion storm, which creates a malfunction in the transporter that results in the group being sent to a different universe, and their evil counterparts sent back to the Enterprise.
The obverse of each Silver Star Trek Mirror Mirror coin features the image of Queen Elizabeth II, which was created in 2003 by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt.
On the reverse of all 2016 1 oz Canadian Silver Star Trek Mirror Mirror coins you can see the evil Spock encountering Captain Kirk, with both characters captured in real-life color. These scenes are copyright of CBS, which provided the Royal Canadian Mint with all images for the Stark Trek collection.
These 2016 1 oz Canadian Silver Star Trek Mirror Mirror coins are in Proof condition. Coins of this grade show no signs of wear and tear, but may feature minor flaws including breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks.
