Perhaps the most popular coin series from the continent of Africa is the Rwanda Wildlife Series. These particular coins celebrate the African Buffalo, and feature a unique design with each new production year. Today, you can purchase a new 2015 1 oz Rwandan African Buffalo Silver Coin from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Rwandan Wildlife Series was launched in 2008 to honor the native members of Africa’s animal kingdom. These 2015 1 oz Rwandan African Buffalo Silver coins are the 8th in the popular series. Each coin is minted by Germany’s BH Mayer Mint.
On the reverse side of each coin is the image of a female African buffalo, with its calf standing nearby. Also included on this side is an outline of the African continent, with a rugged finish. Engravings on this side read “African Ounce,” “2015,” and the weight, metal content, and purity of the coin.
The obverse side of these coins features the coat of arms for the nation of Rwanda. This seal was redesigned by the national government in 2001. Along the bottom of the seal is the engraving “Ubumwe-Umurimo-Igihugu,” which translates from local Kinyarwanda to English as “Unity, Work, Patriotism.”
Likewise, there are two engravings along the top and bottom of the coin in the local tongue of Kinyarwanda. Above the official seal is the engraving “Banki Nkuru Y’u Rwanda,” which translates to “Bank of Rwanda” in English. On the bottom, the engraving “Amafaranga, Mirongo Itanu” identifies the coins as legal tender in Rwanda.
German mints are renowned for their engineering and design prowess in the production of gold and silver bullion products. Mayer Mint GMBH is one of the nation’s finest mints, though it is also one of the youngest, having opened its doors for business for the first time in 1871.

"Just opened my box of ten 2015 Rwandan African Buffaloes and they're even nicer than the photo does justice. Really nice obverse design each individually vacuum sealed from the mint. These are by far the highest premium I've paid for a Goverment minted silver bullion coin, however, if the mintage for 2015 remains at the 10,000 mark from 2014 they should appreciate quickly over basic bullion cost. Not a coin I'm going to be stocking upon in huge numbers but well worth the price. Thanks again JM."
"just received my order and i'm stoked.. the picture does not do it any justice. its my first Rwandan coin of the series and i plan on buying them from here on out s long as they maintain their low mintage status. highly highly recommend!"
"This is an extra special coin. A must see in person. This Rwanda series coin at least double in value after they have sold out. My only wish is that JM would carry all of the coins back to 2008. I would pay the premium!"
"Its a nice coin. I definitely recommend getting one. I saw some of the previous issues being sold on ebay for nice prices. Not only do you get a nice piece of silver but you also get a coin that can appreciate numismatically. (hope I spelled that right)"
