The United States Mint is honoring Major League Baseball and members of the Hall of Fame with the Baseball HOF Silver Coin series. Few men were associated more closely with adept and speedy base running than Andre Dawson. You can now purchase a 2014 $1 Baseball Hall of Fame Silver Coin from JM Bullion with an Andre Dawson signature label included inside the sealed packaging.
Coin Highlights:
Andre Dawson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010, following a 21-year career that included stints with four different teams. The majority of his career came as a member of the Montreal Expos and Chicago Cubs. During the latter years of his career, he played two seasons each for the Boston Red Sox and his hometown Florida Marlins. He was perhaps best known for his ability on the base path, and is one of just eight players in MLB history with at least 300 homeruns and 300 stolen bases.
These 2014 $1 Baseball Hall of Fame coins have MS70 grades from the Professional Coin Grading Service. An MS70, or Mint State 70, grading indicates a coin that was perfectly struck by the mint and has not been circulated. The Andre Dawson label sealed inside the coin’s packaging features his player photo, name, and reproduction signature. The “P” mint mark identifies the coin as a product of the Philadelphia Mint.
The obverse side of the coin bears the image of an open baseball glove, with the engravings “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “2014” inside the mitt. The reverse side features a 3D rendering of a baseball, making it the first-ever curved design on a US Mint coin. Cassie McFarland designed the image used on these coins.
