It’s been 50 years since Secretariat achieved his historic Triple Crown at Belmont Stakes. In honor of the anniversary, we are offering a new legal tender note featuring imagery of Secretariat and his jockey, Ron Turcotte. This limited-edition release from The Merrick Mint was also hand-signed by Turcotte himself! Today, $2 Secretariat Triple Crown 50th Anniversary Jockey Ron Turcotte Legal Tender Notes are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Note Highlights:
Secretariat is considered by many to be the greatest Thoroughbred racer of all time. This chestnut-colored stallion stamped his name in the history books with his sensational victory at Belmont Stakes in 1973. He won the race by a record-setting 31 lengths, which in this case translated to 253 feet and 2 inches. Known as “The Clark Gable of horses,” Secretariat earned his Triple Crown that year as well thanks to additional victories at Preakness and the Kentucky Derby.
These $2 Secretariat Triple Crown Jockey Ron Turcotte Legal Tender Notes were produced by Merrick Mint and will arrive in new condition. Each note is packaged in a special blue folio that includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
For the obverse of $2 Secretariat Triple Crown 50th Anniversary Ron Turcotte Legal Tender Notes there are two depictions of Secretariat. One is fully colorized and shows Ron Turcotte sitting atop the legendary racehorse. The other is a black & white action shot as we see Secretariat cross the finish line at Belmont Stakes. The signature of Ron Turcotte is also featured on the obverse side.
For the reverse of these Triple Crown 50th Anniversary Jockey Ron Turcotte Notes, there is a rendering of the Declaration of Independence painting by John Trumbull. While some believe this image depicts the signing of the Declaration, in reality, it shows the Founders presenting a draft of the document to John Hancock.
