On the reverse of the 1991 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle, you’ll find the image of a family of nesting bald eagles. This was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek and includes a male eagle flying over a nest that holds a group of hatchlings under the watchful gaze of a female eagle.
All 1991 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins were struck by the Philadelphia Mint and feature “P” mint marks. This was the last year of availability for Gold Eagle coins with Roman numeral date marks. In 1992, the US Mint would begin using Arabic numerals for the date marks.
