In late 1921, the United States Mint redesigned the US silver dollar for the first time since 1878. In December of that year, the US Mint halted its one-year production resumption of the Morgan Silver Dollar in favor of the new Peace Silver Dollar design. Today, 1923 Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available to you online at JM Bullion in certified condition.
Coin Highlights:
In 1923, a total of three branch mints issued the Peace Silver Dollar. The Philadelphia Mint issued the largest number of coins, by far, with a total of 30.8 million coins issued. 1923 is the second-highest mintage overall in the Peace Silver Dollar Series behind only the 1922 issue that saw a total of 84.275 million coins struck. The 1923 total across all three branch mints was 56.631 million coins.
All of these 1923 Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available to you in Mint State 64 condition. Coins with an MS64 grade have average remaining mint luster with several small contact marks grouped together, one or two moderate marks, one or two small patches of hairlines, and the possibility of light scuff marks.
On the obverse of 1923 Peace Dollars, you will find Anthony de Francisci’s depiction of Lady Liberty. This new left-profile bust of Liberty comes with flowing hair and a towering crown with various, tall spikes.
The reverse side of the 1923 Peace Silver Dollar comes with an image of the American bald eagle. Reflecting the nation’s desire for peace following World War I, the coin shows a bald eagle resting on its perch with only an olive branch in its talons. The word PEACE is emblazoned along the edge of the design field.
