Peace Silver Dollars went into production at the Philadelphia Mint on December 27, 1921. In the final days of the year, the mint struck more than 1 million specimens. In 1922, the United States Mint would issue the largest number of Peace Silver Dollars in any given year.
In total, more than 84 million coins were struck between the Philadelphia Mint, Denver Mint, and the San Francisco Mint. The Philadelphia Mint alone struck 51.737 million coins. The Denver Mint would never issue a higher number than its 1922 release and San Francisco would surpass its 1922 mintage just one time, the next year in 1923.
Obverse design elements on these 1922 Peace Silver Dollars include the image of Liberty. This left-profile bust was created by Anthony de Francisci and features a beautiful crown atop the head of Liberty as her hair flows in the breeze.
Reverse visuals on these 1922 Peace Dollars feature the American bald eagle. In a major departure from American coin designs, this eagle is shown perched with its wings at its side as it clutches an olive branch in its talons. The design lacks the arrows of war and the US national shield.
These 1922 Peace Silver Dollar Coins are available to you for purchase in Mint State 64 condition. The coins come with average mint luster, several small contact marks in groups, one or two heavier marks, and one or two patches of small hairlines.
