The first full year of production for the Peace Silver Dollar in the United States was the 1922 issue. Though the coins debuted in 1921, that was a transitional year as the US Mint moved away from its final strike of the Morgan Silver Dollar to the new Peace Silver Dollar. Today, 1922 Peace Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available to you online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Peace Silver Dollars debuted on December 27, 1921, with the Philadelphia Mint striking just over 1 million coins with a 1921 date mark. In 1922, production was in full swing with the United States Mint issuing the highest volume of Peace Silver Dollars in the program’s history. Of the more than 84 million coins struck, the Philadelphia Mint issued 51.737 million coins.
All of the 1922 Peace Silver Dollar Coins available here have an MS63 grade. Coins in this condition have slightly impaired mint luster with numerous, small contact marks and a few scattered heavy marks. There are also small hairlines visible without magnification and the possibility of several detracting scuff marks.
On the obverse of the 1922 Peace Silver Dollar, you will find a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. In this design, Liberty is shown with a towering crown on her head and hair that is flowing freely in the wind.
The reverse side of 1922 Peace Dollar Coins comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle. Here, it is shown at rest on the perch of a rock cliff with an olive branch in its talons and its wings resting at its side.
