After the debut of the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle in 1907, production figures for the coin dropped off significantly in the 1910s. For the decade from 1910 to 1919, only two total issues of the coin surpassed 1 million for a given date and mint: 1910-S coins and 1914-S coins. The Philadelphia Mint’s highest issue in the 1910s was the 1910 coin with 482,000 units struck.

This front-facing relief captures the full-length figure of Liberty as she strides toward you hold a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.
