One of the more unique specimens in the history of the Morgan Silver Dollar is the 1903 issue from the New Orleans Mint. The New Orleans Mint issued Morgan Silver Dollars in every year but two of the available dates in the series. Now, 1903-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you for purchase in certified condition online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
In 1903, the Morgan Silver Dollar experienced its penultimate annual release. Struck every year since 1878, the 1903 issue marked the second-to-last issue of the coins. The 1904 release was the final issue before a 17-year hiatus, with Morgan Silver Dollars struck one final time through mid-December 1921.
For the New Orleans Mint, the 1903 release of the Morgan Dollar was its penultimate overall release. New Orleans would issue the coins in 1904, but with its permanent closure in 1909, the New Orleans Mint was not operational when the 1921 coins were struck.
On the obverse of the 1903-O Morgan Dollar, you will find a left-profile bust of Lady Liberty. The design shows Liberty with a coronet crown and a laurel wreath on her head and a Phrygian cap covering the back of her head.
The reverse side of 1903 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins comes with a depiction of the heraldic eagle. Also designed by George T. Morgan, this design shows a front-facing bald eagle with spread wings and talons clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
These 1903-O Morgan Silver Dollar Coins have MS64 grades. Coins in this condition showcase average mint luster for the date. Several small contact marks, one or two moderate marks, and one or two small patches of hairlines may show on the coins.
