Throughout the 1880s, the Philadelphia Mint, New Orleans Mint, San Francisco Mint, and Carson City Mint issued the coins in the Morgan Silver Dollar Series. The Philadelphia Mint, along with New Orleans and San Francisco, issued the coins each year from 1880 to 1889.
Over the course of the decade, production of Morgan Dollars ramped up significantly. The Philadelphia Mint, for its part, struck more than 10 million coins each year, with the lone exception coming in 1881 when it struck 9.1 million coins. The height of production came in the latter half of the decade, with production from 1886 to 1889 averaging around 19.5 million coins annually.
The obverse side of the 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin comes with a left-profile bust of Liberty. Created in 1878, this effigy of Liberty shows her figure in left-profile relief with the Phrygian cap on her head, a laurel wreath in her hair, and a coronet crown on her head as well.
On the reverse field of 1886 Morgan Dollars, you will find the heraldic eagle as designed by George T. Morgan. This version of the eagle lacks the US national shield, but does feature a front-facing eagle with spread wings clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
These 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available in Mint State 65 condition. Coins with this grade showcase attractive, high-quality mint luster. The coins have minimal flaws that include scattered, small contact marks or one or two larger marks. One or two small patches of hairlines may also be present.
