Coin Highlights:
Morgan Silver Dollars were introduced in 1878. They were released annually until 1904. The coin program made a one-year comeback in 1921, and then again in 2021. Coins in this series lacking a mint mark, like this one, indicate that it was produced at the Philadelphia Mint. In total, over 300 million of these coins have been produced at the Philadelphia Mint.
The obverse side of each 1885 Morgan Dollar Coin features the depiction of Lady Liberty. This George T. Morgan design showcases Liberty in left-profile relief wearing a Phrygian cap. A Philadelphia school teacher, Anna Williams, served as the model for this design.
The reverse field of the 1885 Silver Dollar Coin was also created by George T. Morgan. This heraldic eagle features the bald eagle in front-facing relief about to take off. The eagle is clutching an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its talons.
Each 1885 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin will arrive in a protective plastic slab from the PCGS. Notably, these coins were given a grade of Mint State 63 by the PCGS. MS63 coins showcase impaired mint luster, scattered contact marks, a few heavier contact marks, and small patches of hairlines.
