Goldbacks made their debut in 2019 with five different denominations, all serving as voluntary currency in Utah. It was reported that anywhere between a quarter to a half of small businesses in Utah were accepting these gold notes as a form of payment. The popularity of these Goldbacks led to the creation of a five-denomination set for Nevada, New Hampshire, and Wyoming. Now, South Dakota has become the fifth state to introduce this unique and affordable way to invest in gold. At JM Bullion, we’re excited to offer you the 1 South Dakota Goldback Gold Note in a pack of 100.
Note Highlights:
Each 1 South Dakota Goldback Gold Note will arrive as a pack of 100, bundled together. These notes are created by putting thin layers of gold together between two polymer sheets. Each bundle contains 1/10th Troy oz of total gold content.
A depiction of Pax is seen on the obverse of each note in the 100 pack of 1 South Dakota Goldback Gold Notes. Pax is Latin for peace. This female embodiment of Pax shows her holding a set of five rings as she’s surrounded by animals. A dog, deer, and a group of birds are shown alongside her.
The reverse side of each 1 South Dakota Goldback Gold Note displays a mirrored image of the obverse. The thin nature of these gold notes means that any design on the reverse would impact the design of the obverse.
Precious metals and spendable currency continue to evolve daily. Goldbacks offer you a unique way to invest in gold while also having a tangible piece to spend. Goldbacks act as voluntary currency in the issuing state. This means that you can spend them at the discretion of the vendor. These gold notes were first made available in 2019 with five denominations for Utah. South Dakota is now the 5th state to embrace these gold notes.

"I've bought many single goldbacks before but now this is the best price per goldback. Artwork is beautiful, even moreso when the entire background is gold. The only part I'm disappointed with in the 100 stack was a small shipping problem where one of the goldbacks was bent on the bottom. On a different order these stacks came fine and were in a plastic bag. This one was not so I don't know if that is why one of them got bent. Not a big deal as these are meant to be used not for stacking so they will eventually get beaten up."
