Nevada first required citizens to display plates in 1913. However, it wasn’t until 1916 that the state started issuing them. Mountain ranges have been a prominent image in these plates since 1983. In 2001, the design was updated to the plate we see on the obverse of this silver bar. The plate design was updated again in 2016 to feature a blue sky with the mountains taking up just the bottom portion of the plate.
