By 1918, all 48 states were issuing registration plates to their respective residents. In 1921, even though they weren’t recognized as an official state, Alaska started doing the same. These plates started as a way for state governments to track vehicles. While they still serve that purpose, they now are also a unique collectible for some. Now, you can own all 50 state plates as they’re displayed on silver bars in the Stackin’ Across America Series. At JM Bullion, we’re happy to bring you the 1 oz Colorized Stacking Across America Alaska License Plate Silver Bar.
Bar Highlights:
The Alaska license plate is featured on the obverse of the Stacking Across America Alaska License Plate Silver Bar. This design showcases a yellow plate along with the state flag. Identifying marks of the bar are displayed in black.
An American flag with the name of the series is displayed on the reverse field of each 1 oz Colorized Stacking Across America Alaska License Plate Bar. The flag is seen moving in the wind as the name of the series is prominently shown in front of it. This image is on the reverse of every bar in the overarching series.
Each 1 oz Colorized Stacking Across America Alaska License Plate Silver Bar will arrive in an individual capsule to preserve the condition of the silver. The collection contains 50 unique state bars, each with a mintage of just 1,000.
Even though Alaska wasn’t formally admitted to the United States until 1959, the state started issuing plates in 1921 when it was an incorporated territory. These plates have been relatively simplistic over the years as most standardized plates of the state feature a yellow background with the state flag. The 1976-1981 plate displayed a Kodiak bear along with a mountain background. The state also released a 50th-anniversary plate in 2008 featuring a yellow sky with a white mountainous background.
