The field of cryptozoology looks into the existence of creatures that have largely been relegated to the pages of mythological works. Many believe the creatures of cryptozoology, such as Bigfoot and the Chupacabra, are simply misidentifications or the work of overactive imaginations. Whatever side of the fence you fall on, these beats are often the stuff of nightmares. Right now, 1 oz Jersey Devil Silver Rounds are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.

The origins of the Jersey Devil go back nearly 300 years to colonial America. It is said that a resident of South Jersey’s Pine Barrens by the name of Jane Leeds gave birth to the creature that would become known as the Jersey Devil. Folklore suggests that Mother Leeds, as she was known, already had 12 children and upon finding out she was pregnant with a 13 cursed the unborn child. When the 13th child was eventually born in 1735, the child came out as a normal human figure at first but later evolved into a horrific beast with hooves, the head of a goat, bat wings, and forked tail.
Whatever the origins of the Jersey Devil, it has stuck with the region to this day. On the obverse of the 1 oz Jersey Devil Silver Round is a four-legged beast with a forked tail, the head of a goat, and bat wings. Modern New Jersey residents don’t seem bothered by the Jersey Devil. After all, the state’s NHL franchise has been proudly known as the New Jersey Devils since its inception.
The reverse side of all 1 oz Jersey Devil Silver Rounds includes the image of the Intaglio Mint seal in the center of the design field. The capital “I” is set against a radial sunburst background with an outer design field that offers a stippled finish with the weight, purity, and metal content of the round noted.
