Frazetta created the Death Dealer image in 1973 as a work of fantasy art, and it made a major splash as the cover of Molly Hatchet’s first album in 1978. Since then, the Death Dealer image has come to be used as the inspiration for other warrior paintings, graced novels, statues, and comic books, and was even adopted by the U.S. Army’s III Corp as its mascot.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Frank Frazetta Legacy Collection Death Dealer Copper Round you’ll find his iconic Death Dealer design. It depicts a menacing armor-clad warrior atop an equally fierce steed. The warrior’s face is obscured by the horned helmet it wears, and it wields a bloody ax in its right hand.
The reverse of all Frank Frazetta Legacy Collection Death Dealer rounds features the portrait of the famous American artist. Frazetta was a legend in the fantasy and science-fiction realms for his designs, and the imagery on this side includes his dates of birth and death.
Frank Frazetta Legacy Collection Copper Rounds feature the same designs used by Osborne Precious Metals on the previously released silver round collection, which included multiple weights and finishes. The 1 oz weight is the only copper round finish or version available.
Osborne Precious Metals is the oldest private mint in the United States. It traces its roots back to a company founded in the 1830s, when the nation still didn’t even have a singular sovereign currency in use. Today, it is located in Cincinnati, OH, and is the second oldest mint in the country behind only the United States Mint.
