Engelhard Corporation once produced a wide range of precious metals products for investors to purchase. Originally opened as a platinum smelter in 1903, by the end of the 20th century the company was refining a range of rounds and bars in gold, silver, and platinum. Though the company is no longer in operation, its products are still available in the market. Today, 1 oz Engelhard Prospector Platinum Rounds are available to you online from JM Bullion with original assay packages.
Round Highlights:
- Available to you inside of a sealed assay card pack!
- No longer produced brand-new!

When it comes to buying Engelhard bullion, you will find a lot of variety in terms of its gold, silver, and platinum bullion bars. However, when it comes to rounds, you will find that Engelhard primarily offered silver and platinum rounds. The Prospector Series was its number-one option and featured the same obverse design across both metal lineups.
All of the 1 oz Engelhard Prospector Platinum Rounds in this product listing are available to you with the original assay card pack from Engelhard. The assay card offers a matching serial number to the platinum round included within and features the identifying weight, purity, and metal content of the product.
Please keep in mind that Engelhard originally issued these platinum rounds with date marks on the obverse. There is no guarantee which date mark you will receive on your 1 oz platinum round. If you buy more than one, please keep in mind you could receive several rounds with the same date marks on the obverse.
Obverse designs on the 1 oz Engelhard Prospector Platinum Rounds include the image of the Prospector. This design was introduced with this series in the 1980s and comes with a depiction of the prospector kneeling down in a shallow creek with his pan in hand as he searches for gold in the creekbed.
Reverse images on the 1 oz Engelhard Prospector Platinum Round depict the American bald eagle alongside the US flag and an olive branch. The eagle appears to swoop down with its wings behind its figure and its talons clutching the American flag on a flagpole and an olive branch.
Engelhard spent more than a century in the precious metals refining business. From its original structure as a platinum smelter and refiner, Engelhard grew to produce gold and silver as well. The company ceased operations in 2006 when it was purchased by BASF.
