The design of the Clansman refers to the Jacobites of Scotland in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Jacobites were supporters of the exiled Stuart dynasty's claim to the English and later British throne. The Stuart dynasty, which included James II of England and his descendants, faced opposition due to religious and political tensions.
In the obverse design of the Clansman Silver Round, we see the image of a Jacobite clansman from the highlands of Scotland in front-facing relief. The Battle of Culloden took place on April 16, 1746, near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. It was the final confrontation of the 1745 Jacobite Rising led by Charles Edward Stuart, commonly known as Bonnie Prince Charlie. The Jacobite forces, composed mainly of Highland Scots, faced the government forces led by the Duke of Cumberland.
For the reverse design element on 1 oz Clansman Silver Rounds, the mint features a common design element for the Destiny Series. Here, the image of a knight in full armor wielding a sword dominates the central field. All rounds come with the phrase DESTINY IS NOT A MATTER OF CHANCE, IT IS A MATTER OF CHOICE engraved around the edge of the reverse field.
