On the obverse of 1 Gram Istanbul Gold Refinery Gold Bars are a variety of different markings. The bar’s weight, metal content, and purity are engraved vertically in the center of the bar’s design field. Above this, you’ll find the refinery logo for Istanbul Gold Refinery which includes “IGR” in a circle with the full company name around it. At the bottom of the obverse is the unique serial number for the bar.
The reverse side of all Istanbul Gold Refinery gold bars features the “IGR” initials. These letters are set on a 45-degree angle with a repeating pattern that continues across the reverse face of the bar. As you look at your assay card packaging, you’ll find the company logo, metal content, and weight on the obverse. The reverse of the assay card has the purity of the metal and the weight also listed. An assayer’s signature is featured on this side, along with two UV-light security features not visible to the naked eye. A hologram at the bottom of the assay also provides a layer of anti-counterfeiting security.
Istanbul Gold Refinery was launched in 1996 as the first gold bar refiner in Turkey. The company was established with the support of the Turkish government, Turkish Government Security division, and the Istanbul Gold Exchange to provide gold refining to Turkey and the Middle East.
