Bullion Sales Tax in Ohio
Within Ohio, sales tax is collected on all purchases of coins, paper currency, and precious metals. Previously, the state had a sales tax exemption for investment coins and precious metal bullion, but it was repealed several years ago. Recently, bills have been proposed that would reintroduce the exemption, but none have passed. Currently, the state sales tax rate is 5.75%. Local taxes bring the total tax up to a maximum of 8% in some areas.
JM Bullion, being an out of state retailer, does NOT have to charge sales tax to Ohio residents. Browse our selection of tax-free gold and silver products. Please note that we are not tax experts, and individuals may be liable to pay local Use tax.
