Sports Memorabilia Bullion from JM Bullion

One of the emerging niches in the precious metals marketplace centers on sports memorabilia. The rise in sports memorabilia collecting mirrored that of collegiate, semi-pro, and professional sports in the United States in the late 19th century. Trading cards have long been the foundation of sports memorabilia, with the first cards issued in cigarette packages to promote a given cigarette brand. This hobby evolved throughout the 20th century and enters a new realm in the 21st century with the production of gold and silver coins, foils, or cards with precious metal content. History of Sports Memorabilia

By the 1980s and 1990s, the market for sports memorabilia had become a profitable one. The market had grown from simple trading cards to a variety of game-worn or used items, such as jerseys, helmets, shoes, and hockey sticks. Any item worn by a modern-day hero, or better yet, a legend of the game, was seen not only as an emotional attachment to one’s favorite sport or athlete, but also as a financial investment for the future.

In the 21st century, sports memorabilia has been setting records with multi-million dollar purchases of rare baseball cards, historic items from legends of various games, and other game-used items. In fact, forecasting for the market suggests that the sports memorabilia niche is set to grow from $33 billion in 2024 to $271.2 billion in 2034.

Modern Sports Memorabilia Bullion

The precious metals market now features an array of gold coins, silver coins, and silver trading cards that deliver value through a combination of the images of legends of sport, past and present, with the inherent value of gold and silver. These new gold coins, silver coins, and silver trading cards represent athletes and franchises from leagues such as Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, and professional boxing.
