There’s no shortage of lunar-themed bullion available to investors in the 21st century. Collections such as Perth Mint’s Lunar Series III program, and others, have been available since the 1990s. While staples such as the above-mentioned remain popular, there are smaller collections that make their own mark with unique options. Among other bullion collections from Perth Mint, you will find Tuvalu Lunar Coins with special strikes such as the quadrant set.
The Quadrant Set
Perth Mint’s Tuvalu Silver Lunar Rabbit Quadrant Set is a beautiful, unique four-coin set that features various images of rabbits in honor of the Year of the Rabbit. The quadrant set features a singular, circular coin with a square hole in the center. When kept together as a singular piece in its packaging, the coin is a 4 Troy oz silver piece.
However, this item is known as the Quadrant Set because it features four individual coins that come together as one to make a single 4 oz piece. Each quadrant has a different, colorized image of a rabbit. The designs include a seated rabbit near sunflowers that is alert with its ears up. The other designs include two rabbits frolicking beneath pink flowers, a mother guarding her young babies, and a solo rabbit foraging. Within each quadrant, the rabbits are colorized, along with selective vegetation.
On the obverse side of each individual quadrant, you will find the famous fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this right-profile portrait shows Her Late Majesty wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
Details of the Quadrant Set
When you order the 2023 1 oz Tuvalu Silver Lunar Rabbit Quadrant 4-Coin Set, you will receive the quadrant coins together as one inside a classic display from Perth Mint. The display offers a black base with a clear, acrylic lid that allows you to view the coin. The coin and display ship in a themed outer box. The individual quadrant coins have a P mint mark from Perth, 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver, and individual face values of 1 Tuvaluan Dollar. Perth Mint has limited the release of these Quadrant Sets to just 1,500 only and you cannot purchase these individual quadrant-style coins any other way than in this set!
Year of the Rabbit
2023 is the Year of the Rabbit on the Chinese Lunar Calendar and marks the first appearance of the Year of the Water Rabbit since 1963. While each of the 12 animals in the lunar calendar appears every 12 years, there are five iterations of each animal: fire, Earth, metal, water, and wood. As such, each of those elemental iterations appears once every 60 years. The Water Rabbit is known to be easy-going and agreeable, and though it is adaptable, it has lower self-control.
